Mary Ann Girle was christened 28th March 1827 Tynemouth England

She arrived 3rd February 1836 with her mother Mary Martha Girle and two brothers Samuel Rosewell Girle and Thomas Rosewell Girle (Thomas was enrolled in the Male orphan's school)

Her mother Mary Martha Girle was the submatron at the Female Orphan school taking up that position in 1836. She had issues of a Mr Gazzard and the corporal punishment at the boys orphan's school with a cat of nine tails by by Offer who was assistant head master (see local newspaper for details)

Mary Martha Girle left with her family to take up a teaching position at the Fredrick Street Infant's School in Launceston where she and Mary Ann are recorded as teacher's there. Her mother married a James Mcleod in 1848 having to resign her teaching position

Mary Ann Girle married Thomas Stubbs 6th June 1842. They had seven children Thomas Stubbs was a Saddler by trade and took her brother Thomas Rosewell Girle as an apprentice

Thomas Stubbs  died 29th March 1853 and Mary Ann was to later marry the brother Thomas Rosewell Girle's  wife Andrew Gillan 29th June 1855 They were to have three children before Andrew passed away 29th June 1867

She remarried a William Willis 3rd July 1868 in Launceston After that the family has not found what happened to her or her husband William Willis

Thomas Rosewell Girle (brother of Mary Ann) and his wife Mary Gillan had a daughter in 1851, Mary Martha Girle who subsequently married into the Flegg family from which my mother was a Flegg.
