Sarah Ann Reader was born on 31 May 1857 in Goulburn Street, Hobart. After leaving the Orphan School she went to New Norfolk where her father was living. At age 15 she was described as being 4 feet 9 inches tall, with a fair complexion and light brown hair. On 10 Feb 1878 she married Edward Bennett Fenton, a labourer, at the Church of St Mary the Virgin at Gretna; her brother Alfred was one of the witnesses. Nothing is known about Sarah after this date.
