Hello everyone, i post here today in quite a bit of surprise, to learn that my 2nd great grand aunt was at one stage placed in a orphan school! i came upon this page by searching more details about her mother, and my ggg grandmother Ellen sharkett, who i have learned was probably better known as Eleanor Sharkett, which is the name listed on both her orphan papers here, and in her marraige certificate to william shrimpton. in any case,  Catherine was most likely to have been born in ireland instead of tasmania, as she was born in 1847, the boat eleanor came out on did not leave port  in dublin until 11 october 1848, and get here until 20 Jan 1849.  This of course means that William Shrimpton is not her father, as william met  Eleanor when she had arrived  in Tasmania in 1849, with Catherine already a year and a bit old.  Catherine married a Moses Langdon in 1876, but to this point i am unsure of any kids. she passed away in 1923 at the age of 76.
