In the same year her mother Julia WILSON married Thomas CHADWICK, Margaret married ex convict Frederick Hugh Thomas who was about to be appointed draftsman in the Public Works Department.  Frederick became successful as an architect/civil engineer and he and Margaret continued to live in Tasmania for the next 19 years.  They had 9 children, 5 of whom survived to adulthood.  Their last child was born in Victoria in 1864 where they spent 10 years.  In 1874 they had relocated to Sydney, NSW where Margaret died two years later on 16 Mar 1876.
