My great grandmother Johanna Connors was born Limerick, Ireland 1843. Her parents were Ellen Halloran and John Connors.
Her mother Ellen was trialled at the Rathkeale Quarter Session on the 23 Jun 1849, Rathkeale, Limerick, Ireland where she was sentenced for stealing sheep and was to be transported 15 years.
On the prison admission 24th Nov 1849 in Dublin, Ireland, Ellen was with her daughter Johanna Connors who was 5-6yrs at the time and was listed as Jane Connors. They were transported travelling on the Earl Grey to Tasmania , Australia and departed on 17th Dec 1849.
Ellen Halloran and her daughter Johanna Connors arrived in Hobart ,Tasmania, Australia on the 9th May 1850. Johanna was 7 at the time.
On the 16th May 1850 Johanna Connors orphanage admission was to Queens Orphan School , New Town, Tasmania, Australia.
Johanna was discharged on the 6 Apr 1855 to her mother Ellen Halloran as she had her ticket of leave.
Her mother Ellen Halloran married George Smith in 1854 and Johanna Connors was known as Johanna Smith. The family moved to Oatlands, Tasmania, Australia.
1865 Johanna Smith had her first child . Later in 1874 Johanna Smith married George Blake a carpenter from London, England and they had 6 children together.
Johanna and George moved from Tasmania to Melbourne, Australia in 1888.
