James was the son of my 3ggrandmother, she is listed as Mary but her name was Esther Acres. Esther was pregnant when convicted and sentenced to transportation, James father was James Montgomery he was also Irish and would never have known his child. Esther arrived from Dublin on the 25th of February 1847 aboard the Arabian, convict no.90. She later had permission to marry another convict John Brookes but a side note to the record states that they had not married 6 months on. Their daughter Sarah was my 2 ggrandmother.
