Emma was born Emily Mary, her mother Amelia Cummins had been an orphan at the Queens Orphan School She married Peter Emslie in 1855. Emma was 7 years old when her father died. Amelia applied to the orphanage to take Emma and her 3 sisters, but this was denied, the Orphanage gave Amelia an allowance of 7/6 weekly.
Emma never married she died in Hobart in 1875 at the age of 17 years.
