Eliza Lawrence was baptized 25/1/1825 Clerkenwell St James London England and was the daughter of John Lawrence and Margaret Nicholson , she arrived with her mother on the convict  Ship "Hydery" 10/8/1832 , her mother was sentenced to 7 years for Grand Larceny , also on board were Eliza's siblings Helena , William , Charles  Elizabeth and Mary ann . Her father John lawrence was also transported and arrived on the convict ship 'Georgiana"  1/2/1833 sentenced to 14 years larceny . ELIZA married Charles Conrad Bender at Hobart in 1844 , at the time of her marriage he was free , he was a convict transported on the "york" which arrived  29/12/1832 he was sentenced to 7 years for larceny , After their marraige Charles and Eliza left Tasmania 26/2/1845 on the "Emma and Jane" and went to Adelaide . 2 children Catherine & Charles were born in Adelaide and then the family made their way into Qld 2  more children born Helena , Christina they finally settled in the New England area of NSW and had 1 more daughter Johanna .
