Geoff Bourchier wrote:
I am descended from the convicts William and Margaret Bourchier. The child in the orphan school was incorrectly recorded as William. Willian died on the Garland Grove on 15 December 1842 (aged 18 months) about a month out from Hobart. My great-great grandfather William James Bourchier (presumably named after the deceased William) was born in 1847 after William and Margaret had been reunited. The child in the orphan school was William's older brother John who eventually moved with family to the Ballarat region and died in 1916.
The recorded children of William and Margaret Bourchier are:
John Bourchier Abt1842-1916
William Bourchier 1841-1842 (Died on the Garland Grove)
Anna Maria Bourchier 1844-1846 (Died at Dynnyrne - must be some doubt about the father although Willam recorded her in later records)
William James Bourchier 1847-1922 (Twin - my great grandfather - died in Auckland NZ)
Anna Maria Bourchier 1847-1890 (Twin)
Hugh Charles Bourchier 1850-1891 (My grandfather Hugh and father Hugh Charles probably derive their names from him)
Patrick Bourchier 1852-1939
The only two with living descendants are John and William James.
