This orphan aka Elizabeth Williams born 1859. Orphan no. 5684. Elizabeth was sent at age 10 following the death of her father Robert Smith in 1870 at Port Arthur (constable). Catherine, mother, re-married 1870 to Isaac Simpson who was in his 70's. She was a widow again within a couple of years. Elizabeth Ann SMITH was sent to Miss Charlotte Phillips, Orielton on discharge. She later married Thomas William Wells, son of John and Mary nee Newport of Sorell. They had 13 children. She became a midwife and foster mother and helped raise some of her grandchildren. She died in 1946.
