Martha Sproul is my second great grandmother. Her daughter, Florence McKay, has caused me much heartache because my great grandfather was bankrupt in Goulburn NSW, deserted his family leaving many children aged 2-16. I can find his remarriage and death.I can find neither divorce (most unlikely) of death fro Florence. I know she was destitute because 3 of her younger sons were taken into care (the youngest one wasn't and neither was my grandfather Alfred Nicholson Sinclair).
Martha was born on the voyage from Liverpool on the "Cabotia" and I believe her mother, at least, came from Pettigo, Ireland. Her father, Thomas Sproul died a few years after their arrival in Hobart and she remarried a few years later and went on to have another family. He mother was Phoebe (Phebe) Holmes (then Sproul then Arnett).
