I belive that HENRY TOWNSEND was my great grandfather who was born in 1855 and married my great grandmother ELIZA MORTIMER in 1872,both aged 17 at LATROBE ...my grandmother ROSETTA was born about 6weeks after the marriage. ELIZA TOWNSEND died in Melbourne in 1874 while giving birth to a baby girl who died 10days later,I have been trying to find out exactly what happened to ELIZA and the baby MARY ANN!

HENRY or GEORGE HENRY ended up marrying a MARIA LINDSAY in 1879 in Port Sorell and had 8 children...ROSETTA was brought up with her new family!...ELIZA was supposed to be born in Tasmania but I cannot confirm this..Paul

Hi,
I to am a direct descendent of Henry - my great grandfather Thomas Townsend was a son Henry and Maria.
My interest is in Henry being put in the orphanage while his father Henry went to Prison again. His mother noted had many alias in all records researched. I will definitely be digging a little deeper.
Cheers,
Mandy
